Happy Monday!

I've been reading a lot lately about what it means to be human, or maybe more accurately, what it means to be alive and aware in a world that's often brutal and occasionally transcendent. This week's selection doesn't have a neat theme, but there's a thread running through these pieces about endurance, about the gap between who we want to be and who we actually are, and about the strange ways we connect across that gap.

Fair warning: Most of these are long, and several are heavy. But they're all worth your time. Grab your lunch, find a quiet spot, and settle in.

Happy reading,
Brett
